Going underground in Eryri: Setting up site in Garth
16 February marks the start of our site set up at the western end of the project

For the next few months we’ll be hard at work establishing our main construction compound in Garth on land adjacent to the back road to Minffordd.

This site will house all the equipment needed to handle and clean the material produced as we tunnel our way under the estuary towards Llandecwyn. It will also be the location for launching the tunnel boring machine (TBM) which will arrive on the site towards the end of this year or early 2024. Later this year, we’ll be running a competition within the local community to give the TBM a name, more details will follow on this.

As well as the technical equipment, we will have offices for our workforce and we will build a project information centre, where we will be able to host visitors to the project from the local community and further afield.
