National Grid Property as we know it today is the result of 60 years of evolution in the UK gas industry. The nationalisation of the 1,062 privately owned gas companies in 1949 was the beginning of a new era of gas asset management. National Grid Property has inherited many of these now redundant assets and our role is to responsibly manage and regenerate these former industrial sites.
National Grid Property has the opportunity to return this non-operational land to a beneficial use. The need to regenerate brownfield sites has never been greater and together with our consultants we share an ambition to become leaders in the sector.
The National Grid archive provides a wealth of public information about the history of gas production and offers site specific documentation where available. For information about a site in your area please contact us.
