These are exciting and informative educational visits to our operational sites (control centres, substations and operational gas sites) where students from secondary schools can learn about energy, engineering and National Grid.
They also get a taster of a professional, work-based environment. You could visit a 400,000-volt substation, a high-pressure gas station or one of our major control centres. The detailed content of the day will depend on where you visit, but the overall themes will be the same – energy infrastructure, people and their jobs, The Future of Energy and Career Paths. We aim the days at secondary-school students although more specifically we target Year-9 groups or Year-12 groups.
