Wouldn’t it be great if we could predict the future? Life would be so much easier if we knew what was going to happen tomorrow, next week or next year. We could all use a view of the future to make better decisions. For National Grid it would be useful to be able to predict future usage of energy but as that’s not possible we produce scenarios to give us a way of understanding that future and a greater degree of confidence in our decision making.

ETYS is produced by National Grid in our role as National Electricity Transmission System Operator (NETSO) and aims to provide clarity and transparency on the potential development of the GB Transmission system for a range of scenarios.
The Gas Ten Year Statement illustrates the potential future development of the National Transmission System (NTS) and helps our customers to identify connection opportunities on the gas transmission system.
The System Operability Framework (SOF) has been developed to study in-depth, year-round impact of FES on system operability.
We produce the NOA reports in our role as the System Operator. The report follows the ETYS and describes options that could meet the requirements to reinforce major system boundaries that the ETYS describes.
The Gas Future Operability Planning (GFOP) publication
describes how changing requirements may affect the
future capability of the National Transmission System (NTS)
