National Grid Electricity Transmission has a dual role. We:
• own and maintain the high-voltage electricity transmission network, including overhead lines, underground cables and substations in England and Wales; and
• balance supply with demand as the electricity system operator for England, Wales and Scotland.
We are on a journey of innovation and service improvement, working collaboratively with stakeholders and suppliers to deliver value to customers quickly and efficiently.
Electricity Transmission is always looking for new ideas to develop our innovation portfolio, so send us your ideas for innovative projects.
The Network Innovation Competition (NIC) is an annual competition to fund flagship innovative projects which could deliver carbon or environmental benefits for customers, and that would not otherwise be funded. We are about to start the 2017 NIC submission cycle and so we are inviting our customers, suppliers and other energy networks to get in touch and help us generate ideas to take forward for next year’s NIC bid. Our Future Energy Scenarios (FES) represent transparent, holistic paths through the uncertain energy landscape to help Government, our customers and other stakeholders make informed decisions. Click here to read more about our 2016 scenarios and analysis.
‘Delivering Our Environmental Future’ is our annual statement that outlines the progress the company has made so far towards creating a low carbon network in the UK. Click here to read the document which looks at where we are now, where we aim to be in the future, and calls on stakeholders to provide feedback and help us focus in the right areas.
