We are carrying out refurbishment work on our electricity transmission line that runs between our substation in Macclesfield and the south of Bredbury. This line is 18km long and has 55 pylons.
This essential maintenance will involve replacing insulators, pylon fittings and conductors (wires) along the route. This will ensure we continue to provide a reliable supply of energy to homes and businesses for years to come.
You may notice our contractors on and around the pylons along the route. You may also see some activity ahead of the main work as our contractors create temporary access routes to the pylons. During certain parts of the work it will be necessary to close some roads and footpaths and use netting and scaffolding over roads to ensure that we can do our work safely. Where we need to close roads we will give plenty of notice, write to local homes and businesses and sign post alternative routes.
We will get this work done as quickly and safely as we can, while keeping the impact on local communities to a minimum. Electricity supplies will not be affected during the work.
Preparation work has now started with the main work planned to take place between late July and September.
